To succeed in the playoffs, you really only need one or two of these exceptional forwards, but for some reason, management hasn’t adjusted and is still running it back. This needs to change, and it needs to happen quickly. I’m not sure how many times I can say it. What justifies this organization’s high regard for consistent season success?

Like the LA Kings, you need all four lines to contribute, and you also need a standout goalkeeper who can steal the show. The Leafs currently lack a reliable starter goaltender and instead rely on four offensive players who were productive during the regular season but were unable to perform well during the postseason. One could argue that the sole reason MLSE is keeping the core-four together is to generate revenue from jersey sales while Scotiabank Arena undergoes a costly refurbishment, but Toronto is a city that appreciates gritty style. I would argue that someone like Tom Wilson could outsell William Nylander by dealing the core and obtaining guys of the caliber of Gary Roberts, Darcy Tucker, and Tie Domi, whom we adore more than we love skill. I detest digressing.
